Speaker: Dr Daniel Flynn
Daniel is a specialist endodontist practicing in the west end of London and Knightsbridge.
He runs endodontic courses for general dentists and endo microsurgery courses for endodontists and dentists with special interest in endo (www.endouk.com). He has also set up an online endodontic distribution company (www.toothsaver. co.uk), which handpicks great value, high quality endodontic materials and instruments to allow general dentist achieve top quality results.
Predictable implant technology has challenged endodontists to adopt improved techniques into their armamentarium. Endodontists need to be able to provide high quality predictable treatments. Gone are the days of the clumsy apicectomy and amalgam retrograde fillings. Like all other aspects of endodontics, endodontic surgery has now evolved to become a technically accurate, highly predictable procedure. It has changed so radically that we no longer call the procedure an apicectomy, rather endodontic microsurgery. We use high power microscopes, small volume CBCT scans for planning, micromirrors, ultrasonics retrograde tips and tricalcium silicate cements. In well selected cases, the success rates are remarkable.
